Ram Nath Kovind has sworn in as the President of India in the Parliament central hall. The 14h President will replace Pranab Mukherjee. Speaking on the occasion Ram Nath said that he would follow the foot steps of out going President Pranab and APJ Abdul Kalam. Earlier Ram Nath met Pranab Mukheerje who has shown him the Rashtrapathi Bhavan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Kovind and praised his speech as inspiring which beautifully summed up the essence of India’s strengths, democracy & diversity. Ram Nath Kovind is the second member from a Dalit community to hold the post and K.R Narayanan was the first to occupy the highest position of the country.
Ram Nath Kovind became President at a time when miniorits and lower castes people are being lynched and targeted across the country. Oppositon and many dalit organisations have accused the BJP that making Ram Nath Kovind as president is mere tokenism and appeasement.
